Hi everyone! My name is Pablo Cortina. I graduated with a medical degree from Stanford University School of Medicine in 1980. I was an obstetrician/gynecologist for thirty two years. During that time, I developed an interest in weight management as many of my patients had a high BMI (body mass index), and had trouble losing and maintaining their weight.
I’ve prescribed just about every type of weight loss medication that is available in the US, but found that the patient’s weight would rebound after they stopped taking the medication. I also explored diets including the HCG diet along with other fad diets, but the end result was the same. I have a close friend who used the HCG diet, and the weight loss was terrific at the beginning of the treatment, but this was followed by disappointment and frustration at the end of the diet as not only did he gain the weight again, but he was even heavier than when he started!
After several years of failure for the patients and myself, I started looking at sustainable, healthy diets and exercises that would not only cause weight loss, but the weight loss would be sustainable. During this time, I spoke with several hospital dietitians and personal trainers about viable programs.
Ultimately, the answer was lifestyle modification. Instead of counting calories, and following starvation diets, the solution to the eating dilemma was to eat wisely. Following a reasonable diet while exercising turned out to be the only logical solution.
I am sadly amused by the myriad of weight loss products touted on television and other media outlets as they don’t work. The weight loss is quite good initially, but there is always failure and rebound weight gain at the end of the treatment.
I would like to help you lose the weight, and keep the weight off by presenting you with information about diet and exercise. I believe that you will be happy with the results, and you will reduce your chances of developing morbid medical conditions like Type II diabetes mellitus.
I will also briefly mention appetite suppression medications, and weight loss surgery (bariatric surgery) for completeness sake as these techniques are also used to lose weight in certain circumstances.
I appreciate your comments and feedback. Before and after pictures are welcome along with your success story. Please feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. You can also follow my blogs on Linkedin and Twitter.
